Membership of the BSG is open to everyone with an interest in sugarcraft whatever their skills, from complete novices to experts.
All adult members receive four newsletters a year which are published in March, June, September and December. UK members have the opportunity to benefit from specially negotiated rates of insurance either as individuals or within a Branch if there are enough people requiring it.
Members also have the chance to obtain constructive feedback and develop their skills by competing in many exhibitions throughout the year.
Yearly membership runs from April to March each year whereas half yearly membership runs from October to March.
Branch Member – £24.00 per year / £12.00 half year > PAY AT VENUE
Both branch and individual members pay a national membership fee of £24. However, at Branch meetings you can watch demonstrations of various skills and techniques, socialise with other members and have the opportunity to take part in Branch events. When you join a Branch they will charge an additional fee to cover the hire of the hall, demonstrator’s fees, overheads etc. These fees vary from Branch to Branch. (Some Branches limit the number of times you may attend as a non member of the BSG.)
Individual Member – £24.00 per year / £12.00 half year > BUY NOW
This is available to those who may wish to remain independent of a Branch or may be unable to attend local Branch meetings. You pay your subscription to the National Office of the British Sugarcraft Guild. You may visit a Branch at anytime and simply pay the Branch visitor’s fee applicable to BSG members. Take your membership card with you as some Branches give you a discount. You will receive each copy of the British Sugarcraft Newsletter as published. You may purchase the special insurance that has been negotiated for BSG members.
International Member – £30.00 per year / £15.00 half year > BUY NOW
We are delighted to include so many enthusiasts from around the world. If you live outside of the UK why not become an International Member? Your membership will include the British Sugarcraft News but owing to your overseas residential status we are not able to offer our special rates of insurance. You can however join in via the ‘Sugar Forum’ message board and share closer ties with the guild.
Cygnets Member – £1.50 per year > BUY NOW
The Cygnet membership category is designed to attract and encourage children and young people up to and including 18 years in the art of sugarcraft. They are the future of the Guild and several Branches allow older Cygnets to attend adult meetings/workshops. Cygnets receive a quarterly newsletter of their own full of tips/hints/worksheets and are eligible to enter BSG competitions. The Guild has a Children’s safeguarding policy in force – an electronic copy can be obtained from National Office.
