Our current insurance cover runs from 1st May 2026 to 30th April 2027.

Sugarcraft Insurance Scheme

Subscriptions to the Guild’s group insurance policy are available to UK resident members of the British Sugarcraft Guild aged 18 or over.

The master policy runs from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027. Members may join at any time during this period. Please note that the subscription fee is fixed and is based on the selected level of cover.

This policy is specifically designed for hobbyists, home bakers, and individuals running a small, part-time cake business from home, including those selling their cakes via recommendation, advertising, and at craft and wedding fairs.

Covered activities include:

  • Baking and decoration of biscuits, cakes, cookies, and similar baked goods

 

  • Chocolatiering and sugarcraft

 

  • Preparation of cakes requiring no baking, including cheesecakes

Subscription Options

There are three levels of cover available:

Option 1

  • Public & Products Liability Insurance (£5,000,000 indemnity limit)

 

  • Personal Accident cover (including £10,000 death benefit)

Option 2

  • Public & Products Liability Insurance (£5,000,000 indemnity limit)

 

  • Personal Accident cover (including £10,000 death benefit)

 

  • All Risks cover (£3,000 total sum insured, with £1,000 limit for any one item)

Option 3

  • Public & Products Liability Insurance (£5,000,000 indemnity limit)

 

  • Personal Accident cover (including £10,000 death benefit)

 

  • All Risks cover (£3,000 total sum insured, with £1,000 limit for any one item)

 

  • Money cover (£5,000)

Policy Documentation

Full details of the cover are contained in the master policy wording. Summary details are also available in the scheme documents and scheme brochure.  You should review the sample statement of fact to ensure you are eligible to subscribe to the master policy.

When you subscribe to the group / master policy, ADS Insurance Brokers Ltd will issue you with a certificate of insurance and a statement of fact, together with the relevant scheme documentation. These documents will confirm the full details of your cover.

Important Information

  • The insurance policy is arranged in the name of the British Sugarcraft Guild.

 

  • Members do not purchase an individual insurance policy, but instead pay a fee to subscribe to the Guild’s group / master policy.

 

  • The Guild retains a fixed administration fee of £7.50 to cover administration costs.

 

  • The remaining portion of the subscription fee is paid to ADS Insurance Brokers Ltd, who collect premium on behalf of the insurer.

 

  • The amount paid to ADS Insurance Brokers may include their administration fee which will be confirmed when you pay for your subscription to the group policy.

 

  • The premium paid to the broker includes Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) where applicable.

 

  • It is the member’s responsibility to consider whether the cover is suitable for their needs.
