Not my pet but a friend asked me to reproduce her Guinea pig in cake, then she couldn’t eat it. 🤣

We love our members and the support they give each other. One of our aims is to “share knowledge” and sometimes it’s not about swapping recipes or sugarcraft skills but the little things. 

Over in our private member’s group The Sugarcraft Lounge this was a top tip ⬇️ and it got better, with others adding that wiping tubes with a damp cloth will leach the colour and that vanish soap is the best for cleaning colouring off hands!

What a brilliant idea 🤗

Hi everyone. In South Africa we have a bath soap by Lux. (Brand name) that removes colouring ftom hands too. It is also gentler than Vanish. The Vanish we get here is rather harsh on the hands.

I've always been a 'both' girl.... each layer gets a coating of chocolate ganache ( which fortifies the chocolatey-ness of the cake) topped with a Swiss meringue buttercream that be infused with whatever puree, toasted nut, liquor etc desired.

I usually go for a salted caramel buttercream or chocolate coffee ganache 😋😋

As it’s St Dwynwens Day the Welsh Valentines Day and Burns Night lots of our members will be celebrating tonight and the chances are they’ll have some sort of cakey pudding! 

With the Welsh Bara Brith being a dried fruits and spices tea-loaf and the Scottish Clootie Dumpling being a dried fruits and spices steamed pud we think we should have a cake off! Which one would you vote as the best? Give us a like 👍🏻for Scotland or a ❤️for Wales!

A recipe for both would be great

As a Welsh person I would like to say Bara Brith but being I didn’t taste the Scottish clothe dumplings I feel I couldn’t say., anyone got a recipe for the Scottish one.

Oh what a sleekit horrible beastie Lurks in yer belly efter the feastie Just as ye sit doon among yer kin There sterts to stir an enormous wind. The neeps and tatties and mushy peas Stert workin like a gentle breeze But soon the puddin wi the sauncie face Will have ye blawin’ all ower the place. Nae matter whit the hell ye dae A’bodys gonnae have tae pay Even if ye try to stifle, It’s like a bullet oot a rifle. Hawd yer bum tight tae the chair Tae try and stop the leakin air Shift yersel fae cheek tae cheek Prae tae God it doesnae reek. But aw yer efforts go assunder Oot it comes like a clap a thunder Ricochets aroon the room Michty me, a sonic boom! God almighty it fairly reeks; Hope I huvnae shit ma breeks Tae the bog I better scurry Aw whit the hell, its no ma worry. A’body roon aboot me chokin, Wan or two are nearly bokin I’ll feel better for a while Cannae help but raise a smile. Wis him! They might not count towards your 5-a-day but #FunFactFriday, marzipan use to be sold as a medicine as it was believed to be beneficial for the brain - thats a good enough reason for us to eat it more often!

6 years old! Top tier of our wedding cake, kept for my daughter’s christening. Icing & marzipan were replaced, but cake was still lovely 😊 xx

One of my wedding cake couples messaged me a couple of years ago to say they’d finally tucked into their top tier about 8 years after the wedding (and that it still tastes good!).

8 years old is the oldest I've had! I made it to ! Still tasted frest !

12 years. Top tier of my wedding cake. I think a bit more alcohol would have improved it's keeping qualities (teetotal Methodist based family...) It didn't taste bad, it just didn't taste like fresh fruit cake!

We’re already looking forward to 25th-27th March when we’ll be London soaking up the atmosphere and seeing all the artistic talent on display. With 12 senior classes, five junior classes (for 16-23 year olds) and two Student classes (full/part time students) the sugarcraft competition will be a delightful sight.
