The BSG Summer Skills School offers you 3½ days sugarcraft tuition plus evening social activities and is the perfect opportunity for British Sugarcraft Guild members to come together and share the experience of learning new cake decorating skills in a friendly and social atmosphere. Non-members wishing to develop their talents and meet new sugarcraft friends are also very welcome.

  • Inspirational Airbrushing with Cassie Brown

Learn about airbrushing and how to decorate your cakes using incredible airbrushing techniques perfected by Cassie Brown; airbrushing specialist and author of the best-selling book ‘Airbrushing on Cakes’.

Cassie’s many years of experience as a popular sugarcraft tutor, judge and demonstrator have taken her around the world and now she’s at the BSG Summer Skills School to teach you inspirational airbrushing skills.

Bring your own airbrush and learn how to get the best out of it. Don’t worry if you haven’t already got your own airbrush kit! Cassie can provide equipment for you to use during the course.

  • Pastillage chocolate box and royal icing techniques with Jan Thorpe

Multi-award-winning royal icing specialist, Jan Thorpe, will teach you how to make Pastillage, then cut out and assemble your box and decorate with beautiful gilded enamel flowers.

You will also learn essential piping skills as you create an exquisite royal iced doily and decorate the sides of your box with various piping techniques, with learning options available for improvers and more advanced royal icing students.

There are also evening socials and get togethers. Friday afternoon is left free for you to explore the historic cathedral city of Canterbury at your leisure.

The full residential course includes all tuition and activities, overnight accommodation in a single ensuite bedroom with breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments. Lunch may be purchased from the nearby cafeteria. Reasonably priced evening meals are available on campus or take the short ride into Canterbury with its wide variety of bars and restaurants.

Students will receive an equipment list and itinerary once full payment has been received. Bring your own toolbox. (International members tools may be supplied – by arrangement.)
