About the British Sugarcraft Guild
Established in 1981 by a group of enthusiastic cake decorators who shared a love for the art of sugarcraft and with the motto ‘my craft is my art’ the BSG was born.
The BSG is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of cake decorating and sugarcraft and run by a committee of volunteers elected from the membership. Members include hobby cake makers, home bakers, specialist retailers, manufacturers and renowned sugarcraft professionals.
The Guild’s aims are to:
- Promote & stimulate interest in sugarcraft
- Share knowledge
- Develop talent
- Improve standards
Why should I join the British Sugarcraft Guild?
With regular branch meetings across the UK, a quarterly magazine, demonstrations, shows, competitions – there’s always something going on!
Membership is open to everyone with an interest in sugarcraft and cake decorating, ranging from the complete novice through to professionals in their field; everyone can benefit from the sharing and learning experience that BSG membership can bring.
Members receive Sugarcraft News, the quarterly members’ magazine, and can access The Sugarcraft Lounge, our members only online community group with monthly video tutorials and online resources. Share your photos, get help, and exchange ideas!
We hold sugarcraft demonstrations, workshops and events each month at local branches across the UK. Branch meetings offer you the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people who are similarly passionate about cake decorating and sugarcraft.
We organise activities such as demonstration days, workshops, residential skills schools, and our own exhibitions as well as trips to other exhibitions and shows. You will find us at many commercial cake shows where we provide demonstrations and hands on workshops. We also provide additional services for members.
